Maree McHugh

<< Back to The Artists

I create collages, altered books, and embroidered pieces to tell a story. I have been enjoying this medium of expression since I was old enough to walk and found the paper, glue, thread, scissors. I have only recently understood that what I do is ART. My altered books, collages and thread works are narratives of experience, both personal and political. I feel my work is nurtured when exhibited in Palouse Women Artists group shows, Moscow Art Walk, the 1912 Center community shows, and the Lewis and Clark State College Center for Arts and History.

“No found object goes unnoticed, no thread or piece of paper, scrap of stuff is without a place in the universe. It’s all art just waiting to happen! Creating art is my joy in everyday life.”
